So we have the semi finals line up here:
Italy vs Spain on Tuesday (Wed morning for IST)
England vs Denmark on Wed (Thu morning for IST).
Needless to say we have 4 exciting quarters:
Spain vs Swiss was clearly a great game as while Spain thought that 1 goal was enough, Swiss fought back and then made them go all the way to the penalty shootout. However unlike their performance against France, this time they never really tuned on and missed 3 shocking penalties. This inspite of Spain missing their first penalty! So as they say their luck ran out. However great performance and they should be proud of having dumped France. Spain kept their nerves and are a great team. Credit to them for giving 200% through the tournament.
Italy vs Belgium encounter showed us again how Italy is a serious contender for being the champion. The way they disposed of Belgium (World number 1 side btw) was not a joke and they were simply classic. The 2nd goal by Insigne (#10) was mind blowing and worth of an award itself. Yes Belgium didn’t turn up on the day and the fact that their key player Eden Hazard was injured for such a crucial game is worth deep diving as to us if key players are not fit enough then they are not key players.
Czech vs Denmark saw the Danes go through on 2 – 1 and it was a great show put up by them. They were all over the Czech in the first half and that proved costly as Czech could never score 2 goals in the 2nd half. They got 1 goal early in the 2nd half though and that made for interesting viewing but it was just too much of a hole that they only had dug for them.
England Vs Ukraine – 4 0 is not a scoreline for a quarter final but then England too (like Spain in a way) are peaking at the right time. Thats a reason why we think it will be an Italy vs England show at the Wembley next Sunday and then who knows !
